Finally, I have the CAD model of my robot fully complete. To the naked eye it might not appear like I have made too many changes to the model shown in the preliminary model, however, there were a few tedious and intricate changes that I needed to make.

Front view render.

Creating the motherboard was the part of the CAD design that I found most challenging. Thankfully, I was able to download some of the components that are used in the motherboard of the robot from 3D content central. Here, I was able to download the:

— TB6612FNG Module

— GY-521 Module

This was of great convenience when designing the motherboard, saving me lots of time and a probable headache.

Some other changes I made to my previous CAD model included changing the design of the wheels, as my original design looked pretty different to how the wheels looked when they arrived. I also inserted holes and screws in the correct locations, something I did not do in the previous model.

In summary, I’m pretty happy with how my robot turned out. The project definitely touched up on my CAD skills and I found it very enjoyable to be using Solidworks again.

Looking forward to doing more projects like this again in the future .

Ted.
